Cracked Concrete Tank? Strap It, Then Seal It.
Strap the outside. Seal the inside.

The crack
A crack in a concrete tank can get wider when the tank fills up with water.

Strap it
Fit the strap around the outside and tighten the bolt nuts on the adjustment bracket to take up the strain. It holds the crack and stops it getting wider.

Seal it
Then seal the crack on the inside with our Waterproof Sealant and 300 mm GeoTextile. Let it cure for 10 days before refilling.

Fitting Guide
From measuring up to refilling the tank.

1Measure the circumference
Measure all the way around the outside of the tank and enter it when you order. We add 2 m to the cable for the fold-back. Only know the diameter? Switch to Diameter and the form works it out.

2One strap or two
Some customers fit two for extra strength and security: one 600 mm from the bottom and one 600 mm from the top.

3Get a few helpers
You'll need a few people to hold the cable up in place around the tank. Lean a step ladder at an angle against the tank and rest the bracket on the top.

4Take up the strain
Tighten the bolt nuts at each end of the adjustment bracket until the strain is sufficient.

5Seal the crack inside
A coat of Waterproof Sealant, 300 mm GeoTextile pressed into it while wet, then another coat of Sealant over the top. Repeat the next day.

6Cure for 10 days
Use a fan at the manhole to blow the outside air into the tank. Don't put the fan inside the tank. Refill after 10 days.
Frequently Asked Questions
What size strap do I need?
Measure the circumference of your tank, all the way around the outside, and enter it when you order. We cut the cable to that length plus 2 m for the fold-back. If you only know the diameter, switch to Diameter and the form converts it.
Can I order two straps?
Yes. Some customers fit two for extra strength and security: one 600 mm from the bottom and one 600 mm from the top. Set the quantity to 2.
What tanks is it for?
Concrete tanks only.
Do I need to seal the crack as well?
Yes. The strap goes on first and holds the crack. Then seal the crack on the inside with our Waterproof Sealant and 300 mm GeoTextile, both in the Tank Bundle.
Is the Waterproof Sealant safe for drinking water tanks?
Yes. It's certified for contact with drinking water to AS/NZS 4020:2018. View the certificate.
